First and oldest Flag in this World

Flag of Denmark

This is the first and oldest flag in the world. According to Danish legend, the flag fell from the sky on June 15, 1219, to the Danish King Valdemar II, who on that day defeated Estonia in battle (this would make it the oldest national flag in Europe still in use). The first recorded use of this flag was in the 1300s.

Joke: I will do anything to pass

A student comes to a young professor's office hours. She glances down the hall, closes his door, kneels pleadingly.

"I would do anything to pass this exam." She leans closer to him, flips back her hair, gazes meaningfully into his eyes. "I mean..." she whispers, "...I would do...anything."

He returns her gaze. "Anything?"

"Anything."

His voice softens. "Anything??"

"Absolutely anything."

His voice turns to a whisper. "Would you...study?"

Video-Time to have a Laugh

Office Joke-Would U like that??

A Must Look

Joke-A student's request for extra money

A student called up his Mom one evening from his college and asked her for some money, because he was broke.

His Mother said, "Sure, sweetie. I will send you some money. You also left your economics book here when you visited two weeks ago. Do you want me to send that up too?"

"Uhh, oh yeah, O.K." responded the kid.

So his Mom wrapped the book along with the checks up in a package, kissed Dad goodbye, and went to the post office to mail the money and the book. When she gets back, Dad asked, "Well how much did you give the boy this time?"

"Oh, I wrote two checks, one for $20, and the other for $1,000."

"That's $1020!!!" yelled Dad, "Are you going crazy???"

"Don't worry hon," Mom said, kissed Dad on the on top of his bald head, "I taped the $20 check to the cover of his book, but I put the $1,000 one somewhere between the pages in chapter 15!"

Happy Father's day

Father's Day is celebrated in the 3rd Sunday in June. The idea for creating a day for children to honor their fathers began in Spokane, Washington. A woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd thought of the idea for Father's Day while listening to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909. Having been raised by her father, Henry Jackson Smart, after her mother died, Sonora wanted her father to know how special he was to her. It was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora's father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father's Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June, 1910.

Top Ten Things You'll Never Hear a Dad Say

10. Well, how 'bout that?... I'm lost! Looks like we'll have to stop and ask for directions.

9. You know Pumpkin, now that you're thirteen, you'll be ready for unchaperoned car dates. Won't that be fun?

8. I noticed that all your friends have a certain "up yours" attitude ... I like that.

7. Here's a credit card and the keys to my new car -- GO CRAZY.

6. What do you mean you wanna play football? Figure skating not good enough for you, son?

5. Your Mother and I are going away for the weekend ... you might want to consider throwing a party.

4. Well, I don't know what's wrong with your car. Probably one of those doo-hickey thingies -- you know -- that makes it run or something. Just have it towed to a mechanic and pay whatever he asks.

3. No son of mine is going to live under this roof without an earring -- now quit your belly-aching, and let's go to the mall.

2. Whaddya wanna go and get a job for? I make plenty of money for you to spend.

1. Father's Day? aahh -- don't worry about that -- it's no big deal.

What is his occupation?

A grade school teacher was asking students what their parents did for a living. "Tim, you be first," she said. "What does your mother do all day?"

Tim stood up and proudly said, "She's a doctor."

"That's wonderful. How about you, Amie?"

Amie shyly stood up, scuffed her feet and said, "My father is a mailman."

"Thank you, Amie," said the teacher. "What about your father, Billy?"

Billy proudly stood up and announced, "My daddy murders people, steals from them, and drinks."

The teacher was aghast and promptly changed the subject to geography. Later that day she went to Billy's house and rang the bell. Billy's father answered the door. The teacher explained what his son had said and asked if there might be some logical explanation.

Billy's father said, "I'm actually an attorney. But how can I explain a thing like that to a seven-year-old?"

Helping your father

A clergyman walking down a country lane and sees a young farmer struggling to load hay back onto a cart after it had fallen off.

"You look hot, my son," said the cleric. "why don't you rest a moment, and I'll give you a hand."

"No thanks," said the young man.

"My father wouldn't like it."

"Don't be silly," the minister said.

"Everyone is entitled to a break. Come and have a drink of water."

Again the young man protested that his father would be upset. Losing his patience, the clergyman said, "Your father must be a real slave driver. Tell me where I can find him and I'll give him a piece of my mind!"

"Well," replied the young farmer, "he's under the load of hay."

The Results of Home Schooling vs Public Schools

One of the very first questions that most parents ask about home schooling is whether it actually works. They are only too well aware of the fact that the public schools have problems, but really wonder whether they can do any better. One natural response for some parents is to try a little harder to see if they can afford private schooling but, even if this were possible, are the private schools faring any better than the public schools?

The simple fact of the matter is that there are many, quality studies which show that, on average, home schooling produces superior students. To an extent of course this is understandable as parents clearly have an effect on education no matter which route they take. A parent who is genuinely interested in the education of his or her children will help to motivate them, producing better results.

But there is certainly more to it that this and there are many cases, in a great enough variety of situations, to take even this into account and still come to the conclusion that home schooling produces better results.

Even the Unites States Department of Education agrees. In one study which they sponsored themselves home schooled students produced exceptionally high test scores. The median scores in every grade were far higher than those of public schools and even higher than those of private school students. The average home schooled student in grades one through four was a grade level above that of public school peers and, by the time home schooled students reached the equivalent of the 8th grade, they were as much as four years ahead of students attending public school.

As if this were not enough, costs were also lower. On average, government schools spent $6,500 per student each year and private schools spent $3,500. By contrast, parents undertaking home schooling spent about $550 per student each year. This figure for home schooling does not of course take into account the time spent by parents on home schooling for which a public school teacher would be paid.

The public school system as we know it today evolved during the second half of the 19th century as one state after another made school attendance compulsory. Perhaps the most interesting question however, and one which rarely seems to be asked, is why, if public schooling offered such superior value, it was necessary for the states to make it compulsory and to force parents to put their children into the public school system.

It could be, and sometimes is, argue that this was due to the ignorance of rural parents who did not see the value of education. However, it is interesting to note that adult illiteracy rates in 1840 Massachusetts were a low 2% and that, by 1995, this figure had risen to 19%, in spite of apparently enormous advances in the intervening years. In 1840 libraries were rare and today they are everywhere as books are both relatively inexpensive and easy to trade.

Today over a million children are home schooled in the United States and thousands of home schooled students have attended colleges and universities, including many of the most prestigious and difficult to get into.

Whatever your own thoughts about home schooling vs public schooling there is no doubt that the results clearly show the advantage of home schooling.

13 Signs of Burnout and How To Help You Avoid It

13 Signs of Burnout and How To Help You Avoid It

By Henry Neils

In some ways it was a typical breakfast meeting. The waitress was pleasant, the eggs were average, and the restaurant was full of busy people. We shared a cup of black, coffee-like substance, and the first few times my client took a sip he managed to spill quite a bit of it. His trembling hand was just one of the symptoms of his burnout. That’s why we were meeting. He wanted to know if I could help him.

I picked up a fork and explained that as long as I used it for eating, the fork would last indefinitely. However, if I began to use it to drive nails or dig trenches, it would soon break. The key was to use it for what it was designed to do.

The look in his eyes told me he got it, but I still went on to say that people are like the fork. When they do what they are not designed to do, they eventually break.

Sure enough, his MAPP showed that he was designed to work on projects where there was a definite goal. He derived immense satisfaction from reaching goals. He also needed to work by himself about half the time. He was a scientist and enjoyed lab time, doing calculations, and interpreting test results.

What his job required on a day-to-day basis was another story. His primary task was to supervise a dozen people and maintain operations. No goals. No projects. No time alone. Consequently, his job was sucking the life out of him.

Much credit for his recovery goes to his boss who was willing to change the job content to fit the design of a valuable employee.

So how do you know if you, a loved one, or someone who reports to you is suffering from burnout? Here are the early warning signs.

  1. Chronic fatigue - exhaustion, tiredness, a sense of being physically run down
  2. Anger at those making demands
  3. Self-criticism for putting up with the demands
  4. Cynicism, negativity, and irritability
  5. A sense of being besieged
  6. Exploding easily at seemingly inconsequential things
  7. Frequent headaches and gastrointestinal disturbances
  8. Weight loss or gain
  9. Sleeplessness and depression
  10. Shortness of breath
  11. Suspiciousness
  12. Feelings of helplessness
  13. Increased degree of risk taking

Fight burnout. Do what you were designed to do. If you (or you know someone who does) fit this description have him/her take the MAPP Assessment.

Take a close look at what is said about you in your MAPP, and what you are naturally motivated toward with regard to your work. Sometimes a simple change at work can help you avoid many (if not all) of the early warning signs of Burnout.

Cut Stress in Your Life

Stress is the body's physical, mental, and chemical reaction to circumstances that frighten, excite, confuse, endanger, or irritate us.

The cause of stress can be good or bad. It can be a truck wheeling around a corner toward us, a move to a new home, loud music, a marriage or divorce, plus a host of other things such as a new person to date, trouble at work, or a meeting with potential in-laws.

Take charge of your life and follow these basic principles to help handle personal and business stress. Review this list periodically and add to it as you become aware of other ways to reduce stress in your own life.

.

Twenty-five Ways to Eliminate Stress!

1. Have fun to reduce stress.

Do things for the sheer fun of it. Each day, plan to something "just for you." Even if you only have 30 minutes of fun time, don't let anything stop you from your 30 minutes.

2. Laugh to reduce stress.

Interact with people who make you laugh to reduce tension and boost the immune system.

3. Learn to say "no" to reduce stress.

Too much fun can become boring. When requests and invitations become a burden instead of being enjoyable, it is time to say "no."

4. Simplify your life to reduce stress.

Move closer to your work, hire a maid, or shop by internet.

5. Delegate responsibility to reduce stress.

Sharing duties allows time together and gets the job done faster.

6. Learn to relax to reduce stress.

Periodically visualize calming scenes; stretch and take deep breaths.

7. To reduce stress, don't be a workaholic.

Find a healthy balance between work and play.

8. Break tasks into segments to reduce stress.

Break down tasks into easy-to-handle segments and problems. It is easier to eat an elephant one bite at a time.

9. Keep your job skills current to reduce stress.

If you have current job skills, changes and lay-offs at work are not so stressful. You can take the attitude of an acquaintance of mine who takes work with a "Oh, well, I was looking for a job when I got this one. And I might be looking again." He knows his job skills are in demand.

10. Take care of your family and friends to reduce stress.

Having relationships in your life is less stressful.

11. Examine work habits to reduce stress.

If you are constantly stressed at work, examine your work habits. Maybe you are wasting time.

12. Drink water.

Consume 8-10 glasses of pure water daily.

13. Eat sensibly to reduce stress.

You are what you eat. I personally feel much better since I have eliminated red meat, whole milk, and most sugar from my diet. Maybe a similar diet change would help you, too.

14. Get quality sleep to reduce stress.

Sleep is an essential recovery mechanism. Sleep on your back or sides, not on your stomach.

15. Stop using drugs to reduce stress.

Stop smoking and avoid recreational drugs and alcohol. Remember that food is a drug, also.

16. Schedule time to reduce stress.

Allow enough time to reach the place or goal you wish without rushing.

17. Exercise regularly to reduce stress.

Take a vigorous walk, jog, or swim for an average of 20 minutes daily or 45 minutes three times a week.

18. Control your attitude to reduce stress.

About the only part of your life you can control completely is your attitude.

19. Be prepared to reduce stress.

Don't stick your head in the sand. Being prepared stops stress in advance.

20. Think positive to reduce stress.

If something is stressful, make a list of every positive aspect of your situation. This doesn't mean you should go through life as a Pollyanna, however. Then you will rarely, if ever, be prepared--see number 19!

21. Improve yourself to reduce stress.

Broaden your knowledge through reading, seminars, and self- improvement courses.

22. Live within your means to reduce stress.

Constantly overspending is definitely stressful.

23. Save money to reduce stress.

Having an emergency "nest egg" makes you less stressed.

24. Consider a career change to reduce stress.

Burnout can be very stressful. If that has happened to you, consider changing careers.

25. Handle stress now to reduce stress.

Putting off stressful events only makes them more stressful. Settle matters that are troubling you "as they occur." Procrastination usually leads to increased stress for me. And I feel so good when I don't procrastinate.

TEN way to get a GIRL

1. RECOGNIZE AND UTILIZE YOUR STRENGTHS

Everyone has a special skill, whether it is humor, conversational ability, or athletic prowess. Think about your number one strength and incorporate it into your dating regime. What you look like is not of supreme importance.

2. GET HELP

If you are not confidant, and need to get help, then utilize your friends. Choose one that you think is successful, and ask for some tips. Some people find the socialising scene easier than others'. If you are having real trouble try asking a girl who is a friend to go out on a practise date. Then ask her what went wrong.?

3. REMEMBER THAT SOCIAL AND DATING SKILLS ARE NOT LEARNT IN A CLASSROOM

Practise your skills regarding interaction with other people. Try not to brag all the time and listen to others. Try and bring out the best in others and make them warm to your personality.

4. BEING RESPONSIVE TO THE NEEDS OF OTHERS IS NOT WEAKNESS

You are not a wimp if you are aware of the times when other people need your support. We have come a long way since Men dragged women off by their hair to a cave. In a complex world girls need more than physical protection, and the provision, of the odd beast to eat, they do have emotional needs as well.

5. LEARN THE ART OF ASKING MEANINGFUL QUESTIONS

Many men mix up the difference between a statement and a qquestion, yet the difference is very basic and grasping the options that you can give the girls is a way to improving your relationships. Some men understand the difference for instance "whew it sure is hot, is a statement you are stating a fact and gives someone else little to reply to. How hot is this, aren't you hot? is a question asking for a response.

I have often listened to young men and wonder how they can get it wrong? They fire a series of questions off so fast, it is like being interrogated.

Ask a question, and then give a short answer, that's interesting, and then maybe follow it up with "Why do you feel like that?" Learn to incorporate the questions into smooth conversation.

6. UNDERSTAND THAT YOU MUST TAKE RISKS

Find the little things that you think are romantic, and act on them. This is fairly hard for some men, they are taught that real men don't express their feelings, you will appear weak if you do so. To be self-expressive you must be able to express your feelings. It may all go horribly wrong and you may hurt someone but the more you practise the easier it becomes.

7 BE UNPREDICTABLE

Don't always do what you think women expect. A bunch of flowers is nice but too often is 'old hat' these days. Think of something different to do that will be fun for both of you. This does not need to be expensive, a candle lit dinner is wonderful, but there are other ways of doing something different. Women love dancing, and if you can't afford to go out dancing play some romantic music at home, and relax.

8. COOK HER A MEAL

How special does a woman feel when her guy has gone to the trouble to shop, and prepare food for her. It does not have to be a five course gourmet dinner. Start with something simple like a salad, and even if you can't cook, practise one main course. Women think this is very romantic, and are quite likely to be bowled over by the gesture. Even if it does not taste that great, she will appreciate the thought.

9 BE AWARE OF THE GIRL'S BODY LANGUAGE

Body language is quite complex, but some things are easy. Practise on your friends. You should be able to recognize what sort of a general mood someone is in by the way that they hold themselves. Look at how relaxed people are looking when they laugh, they look as though they have not a care in the world. In contrast when people are holding themselves together, they look tense, and strung up. How many times have you seen a girl out and she is yawning, which is a sure sign she is bored, but on top of that she is giving men the brush off. Learn to read body language, and give yourself a fighting chance of success.

10. NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE THE POWER OF A SENSE OF HUMOR

Women are real suckers for men that make them laugh. Laughter reduces tension and makes them feel more relaxed. It takes some of the stress out of getting to know someone. Even if it means telling little stories against yourself. By this I do not mean put yourself down, but tell a story when something you did backfired on you in a funny way.

FIVE way to make people ADMIRE you!!

How to Make People Admire U?

  • Show them that you have what they lack: People usually admire others who have what they don't. A person lacking self-confidence is attracted to, and admires a confident person; the weak is attracted to the strong and the coward is attracted to the courageous and brave. Your goal should be to find what your friends lack, then try to show them that you have it. Even if you don't currently possess this something, you should do your best to aquire it, then put it on display for people to admire.

  • If you don’t know what they miss: The first point leads us to the second point, what if you don’t know what those people lack? That's not really a problem, because, statistically, most people are not brave, not very self-confident and not strong. All you have to do is build up these qualities in yourself then market yourself to others.

  • Use the law of attraction: People are usually attracted to people with whom they share common interests, so the more interests you have in common, the more people you will attract and the higher the possibility of being admired.

  • Success Having succeeded in anything will probably lead to people admire you greatly since success is something that eludes many. You may also find people jealous and envious of this success and may make a few enemies in the process, but this will be far outweighed by the many others who will admire you.

  • Position yourself well in their minds What is the first thing that comes to someone’s mind when he hears your name? Will it be “respect” , “honesty”, “strength”, “will power” or will it be “loser”? Positioning yourself is simply identifying yourself with a certain image in the minds of others.
